Canadian musician ,Shakira might go on eight years jail term after she rejected a plea deal on accusations of tax evasion, Spanish prosecutors said on Friday.
If convicted, Shakira may go to prison for eight years.A fine of nearly 24m euros($24.5m) will also demand from Barcelona prosecutors from the 45-year-old “waka waka” crooner, whom they accuse of defrauding the Spanish tax office out of 14.5 million euros on income earned between 2012 and 2014.
The Spanish prosecutor had also offered a deal to settle allegations she defrauded on Spain’s government of 14.5 million euros ($15 million) in taxes . However shakira claims to be innocent also wants the law to determine her fate. 
She has sold over 60 million albums, rejected a plea deal on Wednesday, saying in a statement through her lawyers that she was “absolutely certain of her innocence” and had decided to let the case go to court, “confident” that her innocence would be proven.Shakira was charged in 2018 after she failed to remit 14.5 million euros in taxes on income earned between 2012 and 2014 in a tax evasion case.
Shakira’s lawyer has said an agreement remained possible until the start of any trial.
