Seun Kuti Accuses Adeboye of False Hope in Terminal Cancer Case

Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti has stirred intense public debate after making a shocking claim about faith-based healing and terminal illness.

The allegation, shared in a viral video, has continued to trend across social media platforms.

According to Kuti, a wealthy Nigerian family allegedly lost both a loved one and a huge sum of money.

The tragedy, he claimed, followed reliance on spiritual healing after medical options were exhausted.

The account has reignited conversations around faith, medicine, and responsibility.

In the video, Seun Kuti said doctors abroad had already told the woman’s family there was no cure.

He claimed the patient was advised to prepare for death. However, the family reportedly refused to accept the diagnosis.

Kuti alleged that the family then turned to faith for a miracle.

He said the woman was taken to the Redeemed Christian Church of God camp. According to him, prayers and spiritual activities were carried out with strong assurances of healing.

However, the outcome, as described by the musician, was devastating.

He claimed the woman died at the church camp despite continued prayers. Moreover, he alleged the family had already spent about $250,000 during the process.

The singer criticised what he described as blind promotion of faith healing in terminal cases. He argued that such practices can raise false hope. Furthermore, he said families are often left emotionally unprepared for loss.

Sharing details in his own words, Kuti said:
“Oyibo don tell am say nothing can be done, get comfortable; it’s your time. But the woman no wan d!e na. Na Nigerian rich woman. She too hold bar. Na him dey come Nigeria, Adeboye will heal her. Dem go collect place for Redeem Camp. Adeboye pray finish..the woman come d!e inside redeem camp, the woman’s family couldn’t believe it.”

He further alleged that events after her death were even more shocking. According to Kuti, the family took the woman’s body to another part of the camp. He claimed more promises were made.

“This was after $250,000 don go down,” he added.
“Adeboye came out of his balcony, he didn’t even come down to meet them. He told them to stop crying. He will go inside to pray for her to wake up.”

Kuti said the prayers lasted an hour. However, he claimed nothing changed.
“As he pray for one hour she no wake up, e say na God call am, make them dey go house,” he said.

Some Nigerians praised Kuti for speaking out. Others urged caution, noting the claims remain allegations.

As of now, no official response has been issued by the church or Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
