Astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, the second man to step on the Moon, got married on his 93rd birthday on Friday. He made the announcement on social media that he and his “longtime love” Dr. Anca V Faur has tied the knot.
Sharing photos with Faur, Aldrin wrote, “I am pleased to announce that my longtime love and partner, Dr. Anca V Faur, and I have tied the knot. We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles, and are as excited as eloping teenagers.”
The post received 53,000 Facebook “likes” and “loves” by Saturday and was accompanied by several photos of the newlyweds.Aldrin is only one of the four people alive who have walked on the Moon. No human has gone to the Moon since Eugene Cernan in 1972. That’s set to change hopefully later this decade when NASA’s Artemis III mission will take humans to Moon again after over five decades.
Aldrin made history on July 20, 1969, when he followed Neil Armstrong to step on the surface of the Moon. His wife Dr. Anca V Faur is a chemical engineer and serves as the Executive Vice President at Buzz Aldrin Ventures
