Nigerians have received uplifting news as the Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays.
The announcement comes in celebration of this year’s Eid el-Kabir, one of the most important Islamic festivals.
The official statement was released on Monday, June 2, through the Ministry of Interior.
It was signed by Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s permanent secretary, and confirmed the approved days for the national holiday.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.
He extended his congratulations to Muslims across Nigeria and in the diaspora as they prepare for this sacred occasion.

According to the Minister, “Muslims are encouraged to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him).”
This serves as a reminder of the deep values tied to the Eid el-Kabir celebration.
Furthermore, Tunji-Ojo called on citizens to use the holiday season to pray for the country’s growth.
“This is a time to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria,” he added, reinforcing the spiritual significance of the festival.
Moreover, the Minister reassured Nigerians of the administration’s focus on progress.

He said the government remains dedicated to delivering “people-oriented reforms and initiatives” under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
These initiatives, according to him, are meant to improve daily life and steer the country towards development.
He urged Nigerians to stay united and back the government’s vision of restoring Nigeria’s lost glory.
“We ask all citizens to support the efforts of the administration to restore the glory of Nigeria as a great nation,” he said.
