Nigeria’s popular afrobeat singer, Teni Apata, has raised a lot of mixed reactions from netizens for neither shaking nor greeting President Muhammadu Buhari while receiving a national award.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday conferred the National Honours Award on 447 persons at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The allegation has gone viral on social media, as Teni was either accused or supported concerning her action during the event. Meanwhile Joe Igbokwe, one of the allies of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu with his comment on Facebook, called on Nigerian parents to train their children very well.
Japheth Joshua Omojuwa, a political commentator, said he didn’t find what Teni did wrong. “I watched that Teni video several times, desperate to see when she disrespected the president, yet to see it. I must be watching the wrong videos. Social media’s capacity to create a false reality is unprecedented. Narratives are now more powerful than what people see.Watched the video again. Teni still hasn’t disrespected President Buhari. I watched it in slow mo. Will fast forward my next watch.” he said.
@josephogidi :Had to go and watch it again. The president said something to her and she even responded.More like “congratulations” and she responded “thank you sir”.People want to create a baseless narrative .
Olufemi Samuel replied; She smile while receiving her award and walk back to her seat.Maybe she need to shake, kneel down or hug Gen. Muhammad Buhari before she can be rated as respectful lady.Religiously, I think it’s Haram for a married man to shake another man’s wife/girlfriend.Please enlighten me.
