A surprising breakthrough has been recorded days after a deadly Easter attack in Kaduna State, as security forces successfully rescued seven kidnapped victims.
The rescue operation followed a violent incident in Ariko Village near Gurara Dam. Moreover, the attack, which occurred on Easter Sunday, had left several families in distress and mourning.
Armed bandits were reported to have stormed ECWA and Catholic churches during service. In addition, worshippers were caught off guard as gunshots were fired indiscriminately across the community.
At least five people were killed during the attack, while about fourteen others were abducted.
In response, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, ordered immediate action. Furthermore, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Shehu Umar Nadada, was deployed to the scene.
The move was aimed at assessing the situation and coordinating rescue efforts. Therefore, a joint security operation was launched involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and the Department of State Services.

According to a statement issued by DCP Anthony Okon, the operation yielded significant results.
“During the operation, the team led by DIG Nadada, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services, DSS, rescued seven kidnapped victims.”
The rescued individuals were quickly taken for medical attention. “They were taken to Katari Hospital for medical care and are in stable condition, awaiting reunion with their families,” the statement added.
However, security operations have not been concluded. Efforts are still ongoing to locate and rescue the remaining victims. In addition, authorities are working to track down those responsible for the attack.
The IGP has reassured the public of continued commitment to restoring safety. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of cooperation between citizens and security agencies.
Residents have been urged to stay alert and report suspicious activities. Meanwhile, security presence in the area has reportedly been strengthened to prevent further attacks.
