Pharrell Responds to Drake’s Threats to Melt Down Jewelry

Grammy-winning producer Pharrell Williams has finally spoken out regarding Drake’s controversial purchase—and subsequent threat to melt down—his old jewelry collection.

In a recent interview with GG Magazine, Pharrell explained his decision to auction the items in 2022, stating, “You never realize how much all the stuff you have weighs on you… When you let that go, man, you feel so free.”

When asked directly about Drake’s verse in Travis Scott’s track “Meltdown,” in which the rapper threatened to “melt down the chains that I bought from yo boss,” Pharrell appeared unfazed, simply responding, “It didn’t.”

Drake’s verse, which many saw as a veiled jab tied to his ongoing feud with Pusha T, raised eyebrows across the industry.

Pharrell, however, chose to focus on the music, reflecting on Drake’s place in hip-hop’s shared legacy: “Beyond all of the ongoings, at the heart of all of it, he’s a fan of music… and those artifacts are a part of it.”

However, with tensions around the jewelry saga still simmering, Pharrell’s measured response suggests he’s keen to keep the peace and maintain a focus on music’s lasting impact, rather than get drawn into personal rivalries.
