Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has sharply criticised President Bola Tinubu’s spending priorities.
In a statement that quickly gained attention, Obi compared the reported cost of the presidential aircraft with the allocation to the Federal Ministry of Health.
Moreover, he linked the issue to wider concerns about insecurity, hunger, and hardship in the country.
Obi alleged that N360 billion was spent on the presidential plane, while only N36 million was allocated to the health ministry. According to him, such priorities reflect a system that does not focus on the needs of ordinary Nigerians.
“President Tinubu spent N360 Billion for his plane but spent N36 million for Ministry of Health. You need to vote out this government cos they’ve destr0yed our country,” Obi said.
He went further to paint a picture of growing hardship nationwide. “Today we have insecurity, suffering and hunger across Nigeria. The only thing that is working today in Nigeria is bad news. Every morning you wake up it’s bad news.”
These comments come at a time when economic reforms and public spending are being closely watched.
However, Obi believes more attention should be placed on healthcare, education, and social welfare.
The former Anambra State governor urged Nigerians to prepare for change in the 2027 general elections. Furthermore, he called for leadership that will improve hospitals and schools.
“We are urging you to vote for a change. We want a new Nigeria where the children will be in school, our hospitals will work…” he added.
The Peter Obi criticises Tinubu spending debate highlights ongoing concerns about governance and public accountability.
Although the federal government has not officially responded to Obi’s claims, the issue has drawn public interest.
