An accident occured at Awka-Onitsha Expressway before Ngozika junction which led to a persons’ death while three others were rescued. Two vehicles got involved in the crash which were a red/white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BRA107XA and a white Mercedes Benz truck with registration number: NSH394ZF.
The Anambra State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, confirmed this incident stating that two male adults and two female adults were involved in the crash.Irelewuyi added that the FRSC rescue team from took the victim to Regina Caeli Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, and the corpse deposited at the hospital morgue.
He further explained that the rescue team on the ground took control of the traffic to ensure obstruction caused by the crash was removed. He expressed his sympathy for the family of the deceased.
According to an eyewitness, the crash occured when the truck driver was making a reverse from the road that leads to Maxbi Hotel to face one way, and he collided with the bus coming from Kwata junction of the road.
Irelewuyi advised motorists to desist from reversing on the expressway and drive defensively giving full concentration to happenings on the road. “Drive to arrive alive” he stated.
