Born in Kaduna and hailing from Odo-Otin Local Government Area in Osun State, Balogun’s remarkable journey from cabin crew member to licensed pilot showcases resilience and dedication.

Her aviation dream took flight in 2002 when she joined the NCS as a customs assistant in the Airwing Unit.

Over the years, she pursued advanced qualifications, including a master’s in public administration from Ahmadu Bello University and a pilot certification from the Flying Academy in Miami, Florida.

Reflecting on her path, she shared, “Staying in the service when many of my colleagues left for better-paying airline jobs was a tough decision, but I was determined to contribute to public service and achieve my dream of becoming a pilot.”

The Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, praised her accomplishment, stating, “Her story exemplifies what is possible with determination and institutional support.”

Balogun expressed hopes that her story would motivate young Nigerians, particularly women, to pursue their dreams relentlessly.

She emphasized, “My role as the first female pilot in the Service reflects my commitment as a woman to advancing my passionate dream as well as the operational capabilities of the NCS.”

Balogun’s achievement not only elevates the NCS Airwing’s legacy but also serves as a powerful beacon for aspiring women in Nigeria.
