Brighton & Hove Albion’s Nigerian goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been nominated for the PFA Women’s Super League (WSL) Fans’ Player of the Month award for September, following her impressive start to life in England.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper, who joined Brighton on a free transfer from Paris FC in the summer, has quickly become one of the standout players in the league.

Her nomination comes as no surprise to fans who have watched her string of solid performances between the sticks for the Seagulls.

In her first five league appearances, Nnadozie recorded two clean sheets and helped Brighton secure seven points from their opening fixtures.

Moreover, she made 16 crucial saves across four matches, underlining her importance to the team’s defense.

Her outstanding display on her WSL debut against Aston Villa earned her the Player of the Match award.

Nnadozie is competing for the prestigious monthly award against five other top performers in the league Aggie Beever-Jones (Chelsea), Melvine Malard (Manchester United), Alessia Russo (Arsenal), Khadija “Bunny” Shaw (Manchester City), and Cathinka Tandberg (Tottenham Hotspur).

Fans can now vote for their preferred winner through the official PFA voting platform, which is open to the public.

The nomination highlights how quickly Nnadozie has adapted to the pace and pressure of English football.

Her leadership and composure under pressure have made her a fan favorite, not just at Brighton, but among Nigerian supporters following her progress abroad.

Furthermore, Nnadozie’s nomination adds to her growing reputation as one of Africa’s finest female goalkeepers.

She previously made headlines for her heroics with the Super Falcons during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where her penalty saves and commanding presence helped Nigeria reach the knockout stages.

Meanwhile, Brighton manager Mélanie Henry praised Nnadozie’s influence both on and off the pitch, saying her professionalism has brought calm and confidence to the defensive unit.
