Nigerian travel content creator Alma Asinobi has announced an ambitious plan to visit all seven continents in just 70 hours, aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to achieve this feat.

If successful, she will surpass the current record of three days, one hour, five minutes, and four seconds, held by Indian travelers Ali Irani and Sujoy Kumar Mitra.

Beyond the record-breaking attempt, Asinobi’s mission highlights the challenges Africans face due to passport restrictions.

She revealed in a viral Instagram video that obtaining visas for the journey was a significant hurdle, as she applied for over ten and faced multiple rejections.

“I’m doing this with a Nigerian passport to shed more light on the issue of passport privilege,” she stated.

“When I fully recover from having to apply for more than 10 visas for this trip—and being rejected for two of them a total of five times—I will go in-depth about why we simply cannot afford to accept and remain silent about the second-class treatment we are subjected to when it comes to travel and visa requirements for citizens with low-mobility passports.”

Asinobi’s journey is expected to inspire many, especially those who feel restricted by visa challenges.

She emphasized the importance of perseverance, stating, “I’m pushing the limits of one of the lowest-ranking passports in the world on this adventure to show what is possible and inspire you to see the world despite the limitations, while also shining a spotlight on a much-overlooked issue that affects over half of the world’s population, with Africans—both at home and in the diaspora—being among the most impacted.”

Her attempt has garnered widespread attention, with many praising her determination to challenge existing travel barriers.

Meanwhile, travel and adventure enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating her journey, as it not only seeks to break a global record but also sheds light on a critical issue affecting millions.

Her journey is a bold statement that challenges the status quo, proving that boundaries can be pushed and limitations overcome.

Whether she secures the record or not, Asinobi’s efforts will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on global conversations about travel restrictions and passport privileges.
