Lagos Assembly Donates N5 Million to Injured Student

Lagos Assembly Donates N5 Million to Injured Student

The Lagos State House of Assembly has donated N5 million to Miss Aminat Alege, a student injured in February by a policeman’s teargas canister.

Speaker Mudashiru Obasa presented the check to Alege’s parents, along with a scholarship to support her continued education.

The gesture, which also marked Obasa’s birthday, reflects the Assembly’s commitment to uplifting education and aiding families facing challenges.

“There was a program where the parents cried out for assistance. So we at the Lagos State House of Assembly have contributed N5 million,” Obasa stated.

This support, he added, aims to help the family “mitigate the educational challenge she might have faced since the incident.”

At the event, held at Oyewole Primary School in Agege, Obasa also awarded cash prizes to outstanding students across Lagos’s 20 local government areas and six educational districts.

Addressing the students, Obasa encouraged them to embrace hard work, regardless of their school’s name or resources.

“You don’t have to feel oppressed because you are not in a private school. That is why we are always here to encourage you and make you see that you’re truly our future,” he said.

His message and contributions were praised by Tutor-General Mrs. Oladele Adekanye, who commended the Assembly’s role in advancing education across the state.
