In a major breakthrough for Nigeria’s criminal justice system, the Nigeria Police Force has successfully extradited fugitive Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as Killaboi, from Doha, Qatar.
This development is being celebrated as a testament to the dedication and tireless efforts of the Nigeria Police and their international partners.
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the extradition was completed in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025.
The operation was achieved through collaboration between the Nigeria Police, the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, and Qatari Judicial Authorities.
Adejobi noted, “Following his declaration as wanted by the NPF Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on 13th October 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his global apprehension.”
He was initially arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, under the false identity “KANU PRINCETON SAMUEL” but escaped during a prison break on November 26, 2023.
His escape was a major setback, but not the end of the hunt.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect moved across West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East using different identities.
He eventually settled in Doha, Qatar, under the name “TOURE ABDOULAYE,” using a fake Guinean passport.

“Through robust international cooperation and the use of advanced biometrics, INTERPOL NCB Abuja, in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Doha, confirmed his identity,” Adejobi said.
He was arrested in February 2025, and a formal extradition request processed by Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Justice was approved by Qatari authorities.
This finally led to his return to Nigeria to face justice.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, praised the international support that made the extradition possible.
“We commend the diligence of INTERPOL NCB Abuja and extend appreciation to the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Government of Qatar, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar,” he said.
The IGP further assured Nigerians that justice will be served.
“The Nigeria Police Force is committed to ensuring the suspect faces diligent prosecution,” he added.
