Jay-Z’s legal team has filed a motion for the rapper’s swift dismissal from a lawsuit in which an unidentified woman alleges she was sexually assaulted by Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000.
The accuser recently included Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, in her case against Combs, claiming she was attacked after being offered a ride to an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.
However, Jay-Z’s lawyers argue that the claims lack credibility, pointing to a recent NBC News interview where the accuser admitted to inconsistencies in her story.
The accuser reportedly acknowledged “mistakes” in identifying individuals and “guessing” about key details, including the timeline of events. Jay-Z’s team emphasized, “What is more, she admits she does not have a single corroborating witness over the last 24 years.”
They highlighted other discrepancies, such as the absence of a Jumbotron allegedly present at the venue and photographic evidence showing both Jay-Z and Combs at nightclubs during the time of the alleged incident.
Jay-Z’s lawyers also accused the accuser’s counsel, Tony Buzbee, of filing “unsupported allegations” for attention and financial gain.
“The factual inconsistencies, timeline impossibilities, and the lack of corroborating evidence make [the accuser’s] allegations … wholly unreliable,” they stated.
Meanwhile, Buzbee refuted these claims, describing the accusations against him as “reckless and false.”
The legal battle continues as Jay-Z seeks to clear his name and distance himself from the case.
