The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the results of the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be released on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
This development comes as a relief to the 379,000 affected candidates who participated in the resit exercise that took place from Friday, May 16 to Monday, May 19.
The exam was rescheduled after JAMB admitted that technical and human errors disrupted the original UTME for some students, especially in Lagos and the South-East region.
Speaking to The PUNCH, JAMB’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the update.

“The results of the candidates who took the rescheduled exam will be released on Wednesday,” he said.
The decision to conduct a resit followed widespread complaints from candidates and parents regarding the mass failure recorded in the initial UTME.
JAMB later acknowledged the role of system failures and irregularities in affecting candidates’ performance.
According to JAMB, over 1.9 million students sat for the 2025 UTME.
Alarmingly, more than 1.5 million candidates scored below 200 out of 400.
Only 12,414 students, representing 0.63%, scored 300 and above, while half of the candidates had scores ranging between 160 and 199.
The JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, had earlier taken responsibility for the errors.

He attributed the poor outcome to acts of sabotage by individuals and promised that affected candidates would be contacted.
He also revealed that 206,610 candidates in Lagos and 173,387 in the South-East were affected by the disruptions.
Despite the concern, this latest update has sparked hope, with many students now looking forward to knowing their corrected scores.
