The move comes amid growing outrage across Nigeria, especially on social media platforms.

Many Nigerians have been calling for urgent federal action following the recent deadly Benue attacks, which claimed dozens of lives in Guma Local Government Area.

Over a two-day period, suspected herdsmen were reported to have stormed local communities, leaving behind trails of horror.

Local authorities have confirmed 45 deaths so far, though community leaders fear that the number may rise above 200.

Entire families were reportedly burned alive, while some security personnel were said to be among the victims.

The magnitude of the incident has intensified public pressure on the Federal Government to respond decisively.

Many citizens have criticised the government’s perceived silence, especially when compared to its swift reaction in Rivers State in March.

During that time, a state of emergency was declared despite no reported loss of life, drawing even more frustration from Benue residents.

Meanwhile, residents are now looking to the IGP’s visit as a sign of renewed federal attention.

His swift order to deploy more tactical teams is being viewed as a welcome move that could help ease the tension and prevent further bloodshed.

Human rights groups and civil society organisations have also joined in, urging the government to act with fairness and urgency.

With the IGP now on the ground and tactical units being reinforced, many hope that the situation will begin to improve.
