Gusau varsity students protest over kidnap of five colleagues

Hundred of students of the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State have been seen blocking Gusau-Kaduna road to protest the abduction of five students of the university.

Recall that five students of the institution were abducted by bandits last Friday night, a situation which has angered the students to block the road as a result of which several motorists were left stranded for several hours.Efforts by the security agents to disperse the students proved abortive as many of them sat on the main road, calling on the appropriate authorities to take urgent action on the security situation in the institution.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Muazu Abubakar who was at the scene of the incident appealed to the protesting students to allow motorists to pass through the road but they refused to listen to his plea.Professor Muazu assured the students that efforts would be made by the institution to ensure adequate security in the institution, but the students insisted that they would not go anywhere.
