German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in Abuja on Tuesday night, December 10, marking the start of a three-day state visit aimed at fostering stronger ties between Nigeria and Germany.
Steinmeier was warmly received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
During the visit, Steinmeier is set to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ECOWAS Commission President Alieu Omar Touray to discuss regional security and economic partnerships.
The itinerary includes a visit to Lagos, where Steinmeier will engage with business leaders and cultural figures such as Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka and Dr. Nike Okundaye.
Highlighting the importance of urban development, the German leader will also explore Lagos’ environmental and social challenges.
These efforts highlight a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across diverse sectors.
