Five people were reportedly injured from a suspected gas that exploded in Babura Local Government Area , Jigawa State on Monday,9pm.
The vehicle was coming from Tinkim town in Magarya LGA of Niger Republic and was heading toward Hadejia LGA of Jigawa.
The spokesman of the NSCDC, CSC Adamu Shehu and Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the incident as it affected houses and shops damaging 17 shops and 5 houses.NSCDC spokesman Shehu said security operatives on stop-and-search were trying to flag down the truck which conveyed 25 gas cylinders as the driver of the truck refused to stop why being pursued by the operatives, resulting in one of the cylinders falling off the truck and catching fire immediately.
The victims are receiving treatment at the Babura General Hospital.
