Former BBNaija Star Tuoyo Cries Out After NDLEA Arrest

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tuoyo Ideh has recounted his shocking experience after being detained during an NDLEA nightclub raid in Lagos.

The reality TV star said he was arrested alongside popular socialite Pretty Mike and over 150 other clubgoers during the surprise operation.

Tuoyo took to Instagram on Sunday to express his frustration, saying the arrest left him humiliated and angry despite committing no offence.

He revealed that they were taken to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) headquarters in Ikoyi, where they were made to sit on the floor for hours while their phones were seized.

“I have been arrested by the NDLEA from a nightclub in Lagos for basically nothing at all since around 4 a.m.,” he wrote.

“They made us sit down like criminals. We are over 150 people here till now that were carried to NDLEA headquarters, Ikoyi.

We didn’t commit any crime. They came with guns inside the club and told everyone to lie down.”

The reality star’s statement quickly drew sympathy from fans who found his ordeal disturbing.

Many described the incident as an abuse of power and called for greater transparency in NDLEA’s enforcement activities.

However, NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed that the late-night operation was part of a targeted crackdown on drug-related activities in nightlife establishments across Lagos.

According to him, undercover officers had been monitoring the club from about 11 p.m. on Saturday before executing the raid.

He disclosed that several illegal substances, including cannabis (commonly called “loud”) and nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, were recovered from the venue.

“Everyone present at the venue, including the club owner, was taken into custody for questioning and further investigation,” Babafemi added.

Furthermore, he explained that the operation was not aimed at victimising innocent individuals but at curbing the growing trend of drug use and sales in social settings.

“The agency is determined to ensure that Lagos nightlife remains safe and free of drug-related influence,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tuoyo maintained that his arrest was unjustified and said he would seek answers from the authorities.

“It was a frightening experience,” he said. “We were treated like criminals even though no drugs were found on me.”

The NDLEA nightclub raid has since sparked conversations on social media about the balance between law enforcement and citizens’ rights during operations.

Many Nigerians called for better procedures to protect innocent people caught in such situations.
