The Federal Government has declared a two-day public holiday. The decision was made to mark the end of Ramadan. The holidays will be observed on Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026. This announcement has brought excitement, especially among Muslim faithful across the country.
The Eid-ul-Fitr public holiday Nigeria declaration highlights the importance of the celebration. The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. He spoke on behalf of the Federal Government.
According to the statement, warm greetings were extended to Muslims. Congratulations were also given for completing the holy month. The announcement was signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the ministry.

The Minister urged Muslims to continue practicing the values learned during Ramadan. These include love, sacrifice, and generosity. He encouraged Nigerians to embrace peace and tolerance in their daily lives. He called on citizens to pray for the nation’s progress and stability.
However, the message was not limited to Muslims alone. All Nigerians were urged to use the period wisely.The government emphasised the need for peaceful coexistence among different groups.
