The Nigerian Police Force has intensified efforts to secure communities by identifying and blocking criminal routes used by hoodlums to evade capture.
This proactive measure aims to enhance public safety and prevent future attacks in vulnerable areas.
Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu, during a recent assessment of the terrain, highlighted the importance of physical visits to crime-prone locations.
He noted that a previously unnoticed road leading directly to Yan Yan was discovered, likely serving as an entry and exit point for criminals.
“It is a good thing that we visited physically. We have been able to know this place is going to assist our deployments to ensure that this thing does not happen again,” Disu stated.

The security assessment was conducted to evaluate the vulnerability of the agrarian operational route and improve strategic deployment of security assets.
Disu emphasized that this move is part of a broader plan to strengthen security in affected areas.
Moreover, investigations have revealed that many of the criminals operating in the region originate from the Yewa Hills and later infiltrate the federal capital territory to carry out their attacks.
After executing their crimes, they retreat to these remote hideouts, making tracking and apprehension challenging.
“I’ve been able to find out that these hoodlums come from this, especially the Yewa Hills, into the federal capital territory. When they pick their victims, they still run back to that area,” Disu stated.
In response, the police have been engaging with local stakeholders to gain better intelligence on criminal activities.

This collaboration aims to create a network of surveillance that will deter criminals and provide real-time information on their movements.
Furthermore, the police are committed to deploying resources strategically to ensure that criminal routes are blocked, making it more difficult for perpetrators to escape justice.
With ongoing operations yielding positive results, there is renewed hope for the safety and security of affected communities.
By identifying and sealing off criminal routes, the police are reinforcing their commitment to eradicating crime and ensuring that communities can thrive without fear.
