A major shake-up has taken place within the Nigeria Police Force following a new high-level appointment.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the appointment of Simeon Akpanudom as AIG in charge of the FCID Annex, Alagbon.
The AIG Simeon Akpanudom appointment marks a significant shift in leadership within one of the Force’s most critical investigative units.
Akpanudom’s elevation follows his recent promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police. This milestone reflects his long-standing service and experience.
Before this appointment, he served as Commissioner of Police in charge of Anti-Fraud at the same FCID Annex in Lagos.
Interestingly, he takes over a position previously held by IGP Disu himself. This adds further weight to the appointment.
Meanwhile, Akpanudom has worked closely with top police leadership over the years. He collaborated with DIG Margaret Ochalla during her tenure at the FCID Annex.
Born in Akwa Ibom State, he joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992. Since then, his career has spanned over three decades.

He holds a degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Calabar. In addition, he has advanced qualifications in security and strategic studies.
Furthermore, he earned a Master’s degree from the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna. His academic background has supported his operational roles.
Throughout his career, he has served in various capacities across the country. These include Divisional Police Officer and Area Commander roles.
He also worked as Deputy Commissioner of Police in different states. Meanwhile, he contributed to training at the Police College in Ikeja.
In addition, he served in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo. This experience earned him international recognition.
His achievements have been widely acknowledged. He received the Inspector-General’s Commendation as Best Cadet ASP.
Moreover, he was awarded a United Nations Medal for his service.
The AIG Simeon Akpanudom appointment is expected to strengthen investigative operations at the FCID Annex.
The FCID Annex in Alagbon plays a key role in criminal investigations nationwide. Therefore, leadership at this level is critical.
