Donald Trump Quickly Names Pam Bondi as Attorney General Nominee After Matt Gaetz Withdraws
Just hours after Rep. Matt Gaetz withdrew from consideration as President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general, Trump announced Pam Bondi as his new pick for the role.
Bondi, a longtime Trump ally and former Florida attorney general, has been a prominent supporter of Trump, defending him during his first Senate impeachment trial and serving as co-chair of his 2020 reelection campaign.
Trump praised Bondi in a post on Truth Social, describing her as “smart and tough” and an “AMERICA FIRST Fighter.”
However, her nomination may stir debate due to past controversies, including a $25,000 donation from the Trump Foundation to her campaign while her office reviewed a lawsuit involving Trump University.
In spite of the scrutiny, Bondi’s steadfast support for Trump highlights her alignment with his administration’s priorities.
