The long-running paternity controversy involving Afrobeats star Davido has taken an unexpected turn, as the mother of a 13-year-old girl, Anu, has publicly broken her silence.
The renewed claims have reignited public debate, drawing widespread attention across social media and entertainment circles.
In a detailed post shared on X, Anu’s mother, Ayo Labinjoh, insisted she met Davido over a decade ago while working as a waitress.
According to her, their brief relationship resulted in the birth of her daughter. However, she stressed that the issue resurfaced after her child began facing renewed bullying online and at school.
Ms. Labinjoh explained that the controversy has deeply affected Anu’s mental health over the years. She said her daughter “cried for days, fainted in school and went through psychotherapy,” adding that the family had tried to move on quietly.
However, the situation escalated again when Anu began trending online.
Addressing previous DNA tests referenced by Davido, Labinjoh alleged that earlier results were manipulated.
She claimed that blood samples taken years ago were discarded and replaced with false reports.
“Dr Deji Adeleke took us to a LAB not a hospital where Anu’s blood was drawn in 2014 then discarded behind our backs and fake result was printed,” she wrote, maintaining that no transparent test was ever conducted.
Moreover, she said the controversy is not about money or public attention. Instead, she framed it as a personal fight for identity.
“I’m not fighting for my daughter. My daughter is fighting for her identity,” Labinjoh stated. She also accused Davido of recently sending messages to Anu that she described as threatening and hurtful.
In response, Labinjoh revealed plans to escalate the matter internationally.
She said that because Davido is a U.S. citizen, she intends to request the U.S. State Department to involve the American embassy in Nigeria.
According to her, the goal is to supervise and witness an independent DNA test that all parties can trust. This move, therefore, adds a diplomatic dimension to an already sensitive issue.
Meanwhile, the controversy gained further traction after Anu herself went public. The teenager tagged Davido on Instagram, asking him to agree to a DNA test to finally settle the matter.
She explained that constant teasing from classmates pushed her to seek clarity about her paternity.
Social media reactions have been mixed. While some users argued that “DNA test is the only way to settle this,” others questioned why the issue was made public.
However, many expressed concern for the child’s wellbeing and urged a calm resolution.
