A dismissed policeman was among one of the two suspected Point Of Sales(POS) robbers, who were set ablaze on Wednesday ,Enugu State.It was confirmed by the Enugu State Police Command .
It was earlier reported that one of the suspected POS robbers who was recently set ablaze by a mob along Bissala Road, Enugu was a serving policeman in New Haven Police Division which was denied by the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ammani.
According to available records,the command unveiled that one of them, identified as Ogbobe Benjamin, has long been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force as a Police Constable, for acts of indiscipline.
“No matter the circumstance, resorting to self-help to carry out acts of jungle justice in such a manner, without recourse to extant laws and the criminal administration system, is totally condemnable and tantamount to the commission of a crime in itself,” the Commissioner states, also warning against such acts that violate the provisions of the Constitution and other extant laws .
State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department is also ordered to carry out a prudent investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and those involved.
Citizens of the state are however advised to always be law-abiding and to assist the Police in the fight against criminals and their activities.
