Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender David Luiz is at the centre of shocking allegations in Brazil, after a court issued a restraining order against him following claims that he threatened a young social worker.
According to police reports, the 38-year-old, who now plays for Cypriot side Pafos, allegedly sent intimidating messages to 26-year-old Francisca Karollainy Barbosa Cavalcante.
The court’s decision came less than 24 hours after she lodged her complaint, highlighting the seriousness of the claims.
Miss Cavalcante told authorities she began receiving disturbing messages shortly after what she described as an alleged affair with Luiz came to an end.
She claimed the footballer became hostile after she refused his request to take part in a threesome.

In her testimony, she alleged that Luiz warned her about his “money and power.”
Screenshots shared with police reportedly show him saying her son could “pay the consequences,” and another message read: “I can simply make you disappear.”
Her lawyer, Fabiano Tavora, told local reporters that she felt her life and her son’s were under direct threat, forcing her to change hotels several times out of fear.
David Luiz, who won the Champions League with Chelsea and also spent two seasons at Arsenal, has firmly denied the accusations.
In a statement, he said: “I never threatened anyone, I never threatened this person, I was never with this person physically, I was never at the hotel they say I was at.”

His communications team added that legal measures are being pursued to counter what they describe as false allegations.
Miss Cavalcante further alleged that Luiz offered her £14,000 to walk away from the situation and “disappear” from his life.
However, she said she rejected the money, claiming that he later repeated his threats.
Local media also reported that Luiz had previously covered hotel stays costing up to £140 per night during the period of their alleged relationship.
The restraining order adds an unexpected chapter to the career of the Brazilian international, once celebrated for his on-field charisma and success in Europe.
