Chelsea Football Club has reported the disappearance of high-value camera gear from its Cobham training ground.
The incident, described as “unexpected,” involved camera equipment worth approximately £30,000 critical tools used for player analysis and club media.
The matter has already been reported to Surrey Police, raising concerns about possible theft just days before the Premier League season kicks off.
According to The Sun, the Premier League club contacted authorities after noticing the gear had gone missing.
While there is still a chance the equipment was simply misplaced, the circumstances were “suspicious enough for the police to become involved.”
Club staff are believed to be returning from summer breaks, and there remains hope the gear may turn up.
However, security concerns have grown, especially as first-team players returned to Cobham earlier this week.
The Cobham facility is more than a training ground it’s a £20 million investment less than 20 miles south-west of Stamford Bridge.
Its cutting-edge design has made it a vital base for Chelsea’s football operations. Losing any part of that infrastructure, especially ahead of a new season, is not only inconvenient but troubling.
Moreover, this comes at a time when clubs are fine-tuning every detail to hit the ground running.
It is still unclear whether this was a deliberate act or a genuine case of misplacement.
