The Summerjam Festival has stirred strong reactions after announcing the removal of Davido from its 2025 lineup.
In a surprising move, organisers replaced him with Burna Boy, Davido’s long-standing rival, citing “logistical challenges” in a post on June 25.
The change has left fans feeling heartbroken and frustrated, especially after Burna Boy was promoted as part of a “master plan.”
The official Instagram update said:
“We are truly heartbroken to announce that Davido will no longer be performing at Summerjam 2025 due to logistical challenges… BUT we’ve come up with a master plan the return of The African Giant [Burna Boy]!”
This statement triggered a heated back-and-forth.
Davido’s devoted 30BG supporters viewed the language as a jab, believing their star was slighted.
Meanwhile, Burna Boy’s Outsiders cheered the news, seeing it as vindication of their artist’s star power.
