It has been gathered that some gunmen have notoriously attacked an army checkpoint at Obeagu-Amodu along Amechi-Agbani road in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State, and killed an unconfirmed number of soldiers and policemen on Tuesday morning at about 7:30am.
Sources informed that the hoodlums stormed the checkpoint in two Lexus Jeeps and one Toyota Sienna bus.They added that gunmen immediately opened fire at the combined team of police and military immediately they stormed the checkpoint. Concerning number of casualties ,it has been sketchy still but sources said that all the soldiers and policemen at the checkpoint were killed.
Efforts to get police reaction were unsuccessful as the Enugu Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, did not pick up his calls.Gunmen had earlier attacked the checkpoint three times, this attack made it the fourth time.
