Nollywood in mourning as another veteran actor dies

The Veteran Nollywood Actor Chief Lari Williams is dead. He died at age of 81, following a long illness. He was famous for his roles in hit soap operas such as Ripple, Village headmasters, and Mirror in the sun. He died peacefully on Sunday in his home at Ikom, Cross Rivers State.

Late Chief Williams was a poet, Playwright and celebrated actor both in live theatres and on screen, earning him a prestigious national honour, Member of the order of Federal Republic in 2008.

The late Williams was also the first president of the Actor’s Guild of Nigeria and had a career that spanned over five decades. He proceeded to study English at Morcey College and then drama at the Mountview Theatre school and Stratford E15 Acting School, England to become professional Actor after studying Journalism at the London school of Journalism.

He will be greatly missed by his friends, family and fans. Burial arrangements will be announced soon. The statement read .
