The burial controversy surrounding late gospel singer Toluwanisings appears to have been resolved after his widow, Damilola Olayemi, reportedly agreed to the family’s wishes.
The development follows days of online debate over where the singer should be laid to rest. The disagreement between his wife and father had attracted widespread reactions.
Lanre Alewilese, a close associate of the late singer, has now appealed to Nigerians to stop attacking the widow following the reported agreement.

The controversy began after Toluwanisings’ family alleged that Damilola opposed their plan to bury him at their home in Ibadan, Oyo State. She reportedly preferred a cemetery burial.
However, the singer’s father insisted that his son should be buried at the family residence. He reportedly said the singer should instead be taken to his hometown and buried near his late mother if burial at the Ibadan home was impossible.
The disagreement sparked heated discussions online. Some social media users questioned the widow’s position, while others called for an investigation into the singer’s sudden death.
Speaking in an Instagram video on Sunday, Alewilese described the dispute as a misunderstanding. He also urged the public to show compassion toward the grieving widow.

“Please for God’s sake, let peace reign. Damilola is very young for what she’s currently going through. I’m very close to the deceased; his wife is accommodating. All his band members can attest to this.
“The disagreement between Toluwanisings’ father and his widow has been resolved. What happened was just a misunderstanding. The duo have agreed to bury Toluwanisings at his house. Please, Nigerians, let there be peace. If you truly love the singer, let his wife have peace now that his burial place has been resolved.”
Alewilese’s statement suggests that both parties have reached an agreement on the singer’s final resting place.
He further urged Nigerians to respect Damilola’s grief instead of directing more criticism at her during this difficult period.
