Several police officers have reportedly been killed after suspected bandits attacked a vehicle carrying personnel from Sokoto State to Zamfara.
The officers were travelling for a special duty assignment when the attack occurred on Monday. However, the number of casualties remains unclear.
Disturbing footage from the scene has raised fresh concerns about the safety of security personnel operating in Nigeria’s North-West region.
According to reports, the suspected bandits attack left several officers dead. Authorities had yet to confirm the total number of casualties or establish whether any personnel survived.
Videos recorded by witnesses showed the bodies of some officers inside a bus. Their hands and legs appeared to have been tied with ropes.
Other images showed personal belongings believed to belong to the officers scattered across the ground. People were also seen gathering around the scene after the incident.

The vehicle reportedly used to transport the officers had visible bloodstains. However, the circumstances surrounding the attack and the events leading to the officers’ deaths remain unclear.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been provided in the information available. The identities of the affected officers and the exact location of the attack also remain unconfirmed.
The incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West, where armed groups continue to target travellers and communities.
These groups, commonly known as bandits, have carried out deadly attacks, killings and abductions for ransom across parts of the region.
