NAF Releases Names of 25 Ondo Crash Victims Killed in 931 Aircraft

The Nigerian Air Force has released the names of 25 people who died in the NAF 931 aircraft crash in Ondo State.

The victims included five crew members and 20 passengers aboard the ATR 42 aircraft.

The Ondo crash victims were identified after search-and-rescue teams completed efforts to account for everyone on board.

The aircraft crashed in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State while travelling from Benin to Lagos.

The NAF said the aircraft was carrying 25 people during the routine mission.

A statement issued on Tuesday, October 6, was signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.

The NAF said search-and-rescue efforts began immediately after the aircraft went down.

The five crew members were Squadron Leader MI Aburime, Flight Captain, and Squadron Leader AP Man-Ugwueje, Co-pilot.

Others were Flight Lieutenant IS Bako, Co-pilot, Warrant Officer Abubakar A, Aircraft Technician, and Corporal Uguru HC, Aircraft Technician.

The 20 passengers included Flight Lieutenant TL Lazarus, Flight Lieutenant M Akinloye and Flying Officer IM Adeshina.

They also included Master Warrant Officer Onwuka F, Master Warrant Officer Matini BA and Warrant Officer Nuhu FS.

Other victims were Flight Sergeant James RB, Flight Sergeant Mohammed AI, Sergeant Ani AE and Sergeant Izibenikien SI.

Sergeant Alafuka C, Sergeant Mbadugha AN, Lance Corporal Ugwuba FC and Lance Corporal Eledan GE were also listed.

The remaining passengers were Mrs Ezeh Nneka, Godstmine Tarabina, Joy Micheal, Sunday Micheal, Ukeme David, and Gideon Omotola.

The NAF confirmed that no survivor was found following the crash.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, expressed sympathy to the victims’ families.

He described the incident as “a deeply painful moment for the Nigerian Air Force and the nation.”

Aneke also promised the bereaved families the Service’s “full support during this difficult period.”

He has ordered a full investigation into the crash and its circumstances.

The NAF urged Nigerians to avoid speculation and sharing unverified information about the incident.

It also asked the public to respect the privacy and dignity of the affected families.

A condolence register has been opened at NAF Headquarters in Abuja for those wishing to pay their respects.

The Service said verified updates would be released as the investigation continues.

The release of the Ondo crash victims’ names brings official confirmation of those aboard the aircraft.
