Two vigilante personnel have been arrested after a video showing an alleged assault in Okigwe, Imo State, went viral.
The video showed armed men confronting a young woman and her brother who were reportedly traveling to Abia State University.
The incident sparked reactions online after claims suggested that the armed men were police officers.
However, the Imo State Police Command has clarified that the men were personnel of the Imo State Vigilante Organisation.
The command identified the suspects as Ejiogu Nchekwube and Caleb Onyebuchi.
Both men are being held at the Okigwe Divisional Police Headquarters as investigations continue.
The young woman alleged during the encounter that one of the men injured her lip.

The video also showed the siblings and the armed men exchanging words during the confrontation.
Police spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye said the command was investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professionalism and accountability.
He also stressed the need to respect the rights of members of the public.
The police assured that anyone found responsible would face appropriate action under the law.
The command further appealed to the public to remain calm while the investigation continues.
