Tension in Oyo as Gunmen Strike CRIN, Victims Rescued

A sudden kidnapping at a major agricultural facility in Oyo State. However, swift action by security forces has already led to some breakthroughs.

The CRIN kidnapping incident Oyo occurred on March 18, 2026, at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria in Idi-Ayunre.

According to authorities, representatives of the Cocoa Farmers Association were targeted. They had visited the institute for official business when the incident happened.

The victims were said to be at the CRIN nursery site. They were submitting cocoa seedlings for the 2026 planting season. However, their visit was cut short by armed attackers. The assailants reportedly stormed the area and carried out the abduction.

Meanwhile, the CRIN kidnapping incident Oyo has drawn attention to security concerns in the region.

 

Following the distress call, security agencies acted immediately. A joint team was formed to respond to the situation.

The team included the Police, NSCDC, Amotekun Corps, and local vigilantes. Moreover, a coordinated pursuit of the attackers was launched. This rapid response proved effective.

According to the statement, “Upon receipt of the distress report, a combined security team comprising the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local vigilante groups, and Amotekun Corps swiftly mobilized to the scene and engaged the assailants in a coordinated pursuit.”

In addition, three suspects were arrested during the operation. They are currently in police custody. However, efforts are still ongoing to locate other victims. Security operatives have intensified their search.

The statement confirmed that “Intensive efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victim(s), as security operatives have commenced aggressive bush combing operations and sustained pursuit of the fleeing criminals.”

Meanwhile, security teams have continued their operations in nearby areas. Bush combing efforts are being carried out. Furthermore, the Command has called for public cooperation. Residents are urged to remain alert and report suspicious activities.

“The Command assures the public that it remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property across the State.”
