Tinubu Urges Eagles to Refocus on 2026 AFCON

Meanwhile, DR Congo’s victory moved them to the Inter-Confederation play-off, leaving Nigerian supporters frustrated.

Therefore, the President issued a clear and urgent directive regarding what must come next.

He concluded, “Now is the time to focus all efforts on the Cup of Nations. Our Super Eagles must recover the lost glory.”

The next major target for the team is the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

Furthermore, this upcoming tournament now carries added emotional weight and pressure, as many view it as a chance for redemption.
