Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has dismissed viral photos allegedly portraying his son, Oseloka Obi, with a gay partner.
The images, which spread quickly on social media, showed two men celebrating a birthday, with claims that one was Obi’s son.
A northern influencer on X, using the handle @Waspapping_, fueled the controversy by posting:
“Peter Obi’s son and his partner are out there enjoying life, but Obidients will turn a blind eye. Well, congratulations to the soon-to-be couple.”
The post went viral, gaining traction among supporters and critics, while sparking heated debates online.
However, Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party, refuted the claims through his media aide, Valentine Obienyem.
In a firm statement titled “Fake Picture, False Claim: Obi’s Integrity Remains Untouched,” he stressed that the individual in the photo is not his son.

“The picture currently being circulated is not that of Mr. Peter Obi’s son. Having searched every corner of his life and found nothing incriminating, mischief-makers resorted to posting this false image, claiming it to be his son.
Let it be clear: this is not his son. They should look elsewhere for the scandal they have fruitlessly hunted for years,” Obienyem stated.
Obi further noted that his political opponents are behind the falsehood, describing it as a desperate attempt to tarnish his reputation ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
According to him, several attempts have been made to find incriminating evidence against him, but none has succeeded.
Moreover, the Labour Party candidate emphasized that his record as both a public and private servant remains clean.
He added that his integrity has been tested over the years, yet opponents have continued to fail in their bid to bring him down.
Meanwhile, the viral post has generated mixed reactions across Nigeria, with some social media users questioning the motive behind spreading such claims.
However, the former Anambra governor has called on his supporters to remain calm, assuring them that no amount of false claims will derail his political journey.
