TCN Works to Restore Power as Vandals Damage Abuja Transmission Line

Efforts are ongoing to restore the damaged 132-kilovolt underground transmission line in Abuja, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed.

The incident, which occurred near Millennium Park, disrupted power supply to parts of the Presidential Villa and about 60% of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, engineers and cable jointers are working tirelessly to replace the stolen cable and reconnect it to the transmission network.

The company has assured residents that minimizing disruptions remains a top priority.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria informs the public that restoration work is actively ongoing on the vandalized underground transmission line near Millennium Park, Abuja,” Mbah stated.

“Efforts are focused on replacing the damaged cable and reconnecting it to the transmission network to restore bulk power supply through the line.”

Furthermore, the company acknowledged the critical need for stable electricity in the capital and emphasized its commitment to ensuring normal bulk power transmission resumes as soon as possible.

Moreover, TCN highlighted the collaboration between its engineers and expert cable jointers in accelerating the repair process.

The statement also reassured the public of the company’s dedication to strengthening power infrastructure and preventing future incidents of vandalism.

Meanwhile, citizens have been urged to remain patient as efforts continue to complete the restoration work.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to complete the cable replacement and connection that will ensure bulk power restoration through this transmission line,” Mbah added.

The TCN’s proactive response demonstrates its commitment to resolving power supply challenges and ensuring residents have reliable access to electricity.
