Ahead of the December 13 release of her highly anticipated movie Everybody Loves Jenifa, Funke took to social media to condemn the growing trend, emphasizing the devastating impact it has on filmmakers who invest immense time, effort, and resources into their projects.

“SAY NO TO PIRACY!!! Recording short videos at the cinemas is piracy!!! Please stop it!!! Piracy is killing us!! I worked so hard on this project. Please, I’m pleading, do not be caught promoting piracy!!!” she urged.

The actress highlighted that security measures, including the arrest of offenders, have been put in place to combat piracy during her film’s release.

She further called on Nigerians to support creators by rejecting piracy, stating that promoting it undermines the hard work and dedication that go into making films.
