Benin Republic’s Cheetahs Arrive in Abidjan for High-Stakes AFCON Qualifier Against Nigeria’s Super Eagles
Ten players from Benin Republic’s national football team, the Cheetahs, have arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of their Group D AFCON 2025 qualifying match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The players, part of the 26-man squad unveiled by head coach Gernot Rohr, will face off against Nigeria on November 14 in a highly anticipated showdown. 
Benin currently sits second in the group with six points, trailing the Super Eagles by four points.
Both teams are vying for one of two qualification spots for next year’s AFCON tournament in Morocco, adding intensity to the upcoming clash.

In their last encounter in June, Benin Republic managed a comeback to defeat Nigeria 2-1, only for the Super Eagles to secure a 3-0 victory in the earlier leg in Uyo.
