The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University of Ilorin, Mallam Abidu Yazid, is dead.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Dr Fola Olowoleni, on Thursday, stating that the governing council chairman died in the early hours of today in his house after a brief illness. “This is to formally notify you of the sudden demise of our beloved Governing Council Chairman, Mallam Abidu Yazid. The sad incident occurred in the early hours of today, Thursday, September 22, 2022. “We pray to God for the repose of his soul and also pray for God to grant him eternal rest. May God forgive his shortcomings and admit him to Aljanah Fridaus. “The university community condoles with the family, the emirate, the Katsina State Government and the entire people of Katsina State. We pray that God grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” the statement read and was posted on boards within the campus.
