Three alleged fraudsters from a mob at Peace Court Estate, Lokogoma area of Abjua was rescued by the Police Command, Federal Capital Territory.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT, Mr Babaji Sunday, had cautioned the public against jungle justice, condemning the act as this solution to a problem is rather “barbaric”.
It was revealed that the mob descended on the suspects after the suspects attempted to defraud a female Point-of-Sale operator, according to preliminary investigation.
Therefore, the CP rather enjoined residents to come forward with complaints to give room for legitimate and swift dispensation irrespective of the crime offense, giving a warning that resorting to self-help was criminal and punishable by law.
However, a full-scale investigation on the case is ongoing.
The suspects rescued are currently in police custody.
