The post quickly drew attention, especially among immigrant communities and policy watchers.

Nigeria featured prominently in the data, raising new questions about migration and public support.

The chart indicated that about 33.3 per cent of Nigerian immigrant households receive some form of public assistance in the United States.

It was shared on Trump’s Truth Social platform on January 4, 2026. Therefore, the timing has added fuel to ongoing Republican arguments on immigration and welfare use.

According to the post, the chart was titled “Immigrant Welfare Recipient Rates by Country of Origin.”

It covered data from roughly 114 countries and territories. Moreover, it outlined how many immigrant households rely on support such as food aid and healthcare benefits.

The release surprised many, especially as Nigerians are often linked with education and skilled labour migration.

However, the figures were presented without further explanation on income levels or family size.

The list showed wide differences across countries. Bhutan topped the chart with 81.4 percent of households receiving assistance.

Yemen followed with 75.2 percent, while Somalia recorded 71.9 percent.

In addition, Marshall Islands, Dominican Republic, and Afghanistan all ranked above 68 percent.

Meanwhile, countries with the lowest welfare rates were also highlighted. Bermuda recorded 25.5 percent, while Saudi Arabia stood at 25.7 percent.

Israel/Palestine, Argentina, and Korea also appeared near the bottom of the list. Therefore, the contrast has intensified debate over migration patterns and economic outcomes.

For Nigeria, the 33.3 percent figure placed it near the middle of the rankings. Moreover, the data has been shared widely across social media platforms.

The Trump immigrant welfare chart also resurfaced concerns over policy direction. Alongside the post, immigration restrictions were reportedly expanded.

Furthermore, tighter rules were reinforced on who can enter the United States and under what conditions.
